Every kid should have to suffer through a few bad jobs
Every kid should have to suffer through a few bad jobs I’m 16 years old. I scoop ice cream, burn my hand on a popcorn machine, and learn more about cleaning a squirrel nest out of a miniature golf course hole than I ever thought I would need to. These lessons won’t necessarily every apply to me again in life, but the ability to muscle down and do terrible, unpleasant work and stick through it is a skill that will lead to success later.

Even Abraham Lincoln was parent-shamed
Even Abraham Lincoln was parent-shamed Guilt trips about sleeping arrangements with your baby. “Well-meaning advice” about the right time to feed or sleep.Criticism about breast-feeding choices. Parents are no strangers to being shamed about their decisions regarding how they chose to raise their children. But this is not a modern day phenomenon. This kind of second-guessing and criticality has existed toward parents since antiquity. Even Abraham Lincoln, old Honest Abe, was no stranger to it.

Why is no one talking about the Plitvice Lakes - Croatia's Wonder of the World?
Why is no one talking about the Plitvice Lakes - Croatia’s Wonder of the World? Croatia’s incredible Plitvice Lakes are well known as a tourist destination within Croatia and the surrounding parts of southern Europe, but why are so few people elsewhere aware of them and making time to travel there? These lakes are stunningly beautiful and unlike anywhere else on the planet. Breaking4: How Nike inspired my lofty sub 4 hour marathon goal
Breaking4: How Nike inspired my lofty sub 4 hour marathon goal A few weeks ago three elite professional marathoners completed 26.2 miles around the Formula One track at Monza in Italy. The fastest, Eliot Kipchoge completed this in 2:00:25, a mere 25 seconds from breaking the two hour barrier, one believe to be untreatable for years. Though none did reach this incredible goal, their results were still incredible in that this was two minutes faster than the world record.

This summer, skip the toys and take a family vacation instead
This summer, skip the toys and take a family vacation instead Think back to your childhood. What do you remember most vividly about it? If recent research is to be believed, it likely won’t be the toys you got or things you played with, but the vacations you took with your family and experiences you had. New research shows that it is our experiences, notably the time we spend with our families when young children, that shape us and our lives.

The four things I did to reduce my half marathon pace by 2 minutes a mile for the Brooklyn Half Marathon
The four things I did to reduce my half marathon pace by 2 minutes a mile for the Brooklyn Half Marathon Going from running a 10:00 mile to a 7:59 one in about a year may seem an impossible feat, but I can say from experience it really isn’t that bad. Like any decent goal, it won’t be easy and requires planning and execution coming together, but it can be done.

Why is my baby in daycare always getting sick?
Why is my baby in daycare always getting sick? It isn’t just you and your kids, since starting daycare this year our boys seem to come down with a new illness every week. For the first 6 months of their lives, they barely had the sniffles. Ok well except for the hospital trip and our NICU stay. Since starting this year though, we’ve gone through a carousel of snot, sneezing, coughing, and messy diapers on a nearly weekly basis.

You're going to love Lake Bled
You’re going to love Lake Bled Don’t lose your head in Bled. It’s basically the Slovenian version of “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” Ok, I may have made this saying up, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Bled, a quiet lakeside resort town in the incredibly beautiful Slovenian countryside might make you start reconsidering things and questioning basic things. Things like quitting and moving to Lake Bled to start a hot air balloon company for example.
